Davvero interessanti questi Lykaion, band nata nel ’00 sotto la spinta del power metal melodico ed ora approdati su lidi e territori assolutamente personali ed ammirevoli. “Behind A Whisper”, il loro secondo demo-cd autoprodotto, segna un passaggio decisivo nella seppur breve carriera artistica di questi ragazzi, regalando ai posteri un’ottima testimonianza di metal prog ricercato e di difficile catalogazione, giocato su intricate soluzioni ritmiche e, soprattutto, sulla versatilità di una band camaleontica e tecnicamente preparatissima. La produzione, curata e senza particolari pecche (opera dei 16th Cellar Studio, già al lavoro con Hour Of Penance e Theatres Des Vampires, tra gli altri), valorizza appieno l’operato dei Lykaion: che siano parti distorte ed arzigogolate o passaggi strumentali in clean, “Behind A Whisper” segna il passo con il marasma di band che gravitano attorno al concetto di originalità, promuovendo un gruppo di musicisti ricchi di talento e fantasia. La loro interpretazione, di assoluto spessore, tradisce un salto qualitativo imbarazzante rispetto al precedente demo-cd “The Equilibrium Of The Hidden”, obsolescente ricordo di un passato stravolto da questa nuova ed intrigante produzione.
