Keith Buckley spoke to Alternative Press about the status of THE DAMNED THINGS, the supergroup comprised of the EVERY TIME I DIE frontman, ANTHRAX‘s Scott Ian, FALL OUT BOY‘s Andy Hurley and Joe Trohman, EVERY TIME I DIE‘s Josh Newton, and Rob Caggiano of VOLBEAT (and formerly ANTHRAX).

“While we have more than enough material for an EP, we are still very much in the ‘demo’ phase,” Buckley said, “rearranging riffs and trying different things vocally. And though it’s a little too early to say what the next release will sound like comprehensively, we’ve taken a different approach to writing this time around. Things are more atmospheric and weirder. We’ve loosened up a bit and learned to let our major influences speak. In that way, it’s the truest sound we’re capable of.”

Hurley spoke about THE DAMNED THINGS‘ new EP plans during an appearance on the “100 Words Or Less” podcast, saying: “I recorded five songs for an EP with THE DAMNED THINGS. I don’t think we’ll be playing. ANTHRAX is still touring on their last record. EVERY TIME I DIE just put out their new record. Josh Newton, I think, has been playing lately. He tech’d for Joe for awhile, I’m not sure if he’ll be back when we’re back. So, you know, that’s all over the place.”

THE DAMNED THINGS released its debut album, “Ironiclast”, in December 2010. After performing a few gigs together, the members took a hiatus and returned to their respective bands. FALL OUT BOY dropped “American Beauty/American Psycho” in 2015, while ANTHRAX and EVERY TIME I DIE released their LPs (“For All Kings” and “Low Teens”, respectively) last year.
