According to The Pulse Of Radio, FOO FIGHTERS drummer Taylor Hawkins revealed in a new interview with Consequence Of Sound that the band’s manager pressured the group to leave a song that Hawkins wrote off the FOO FIGHTERS‘ 2005 double album, “In Your Honor”. Asked if he would want to write music for the next FOO FIGHTERS album, Hawkins replied: “I think it would be cool. I write when we have a double record. There is only enough room for Dave [Grohl] on a single record; let’s leave the real writing to him. Our manager even wanted to take off the one song I ever wrote!”
Hawkins added: “I think they figured if there is one less Dave Grohl song, then there’s one less chance of a hit. For the last few records, I’ve started singing backup vocals, so that’s become a new part and a relatively new space for me in this band.”
Hawkins recently released his first solo album, titled “KOTA”. The six-song EP is Hawkins‘ first-ever project under his own name, although in the past he has led bands like the COATTAIL RIDERS and THE BIRDS OF SATAN.
“KOTA” features Hawkins on lead vocals and almost every instrument, with a few additional yet-to-be-named guests.
The first single, “Range Rover Bitch”, was inspired by Hawkins living in the same gated community as the Kardashians.
FOO FIGHTERS have been on hiatus since November 2015, but they performed at a private charity concert in Los Angeles last month and have begun booking European festival appearances for next summer.
