POISON's RIKKI ROCKETT: 'I'm Not Gonna Post Things That Are Political In Nature Anymore'

POISON drummer Rikki Rockett says that he will no longer make social media posts that are “political in nature.” He made his latest comments just two days after he weighed in on the U.S. Senate’s 50-48 vote on Saturday to place Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court for a lifetime appointment. Kavanaugh‘s confirmation came after a week-long FBI investigation into the sexual assault allegations made against him by several women, including Christine Blasey Ford, the 51-year-old research psychologist and professor at Palo Alto University who claims that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a high school party in the 1980s. Kavanaugh said the incident never happened.

In a video message posted to his Facebook page, Rikki addressed the criticism he received for his original comments about Kavanaugh, saying that he simply didn’t “like the way” Kavanaugh “came off” during last month’s Senate hearing over the sexual assault allegations.

“I guess Blabbermouth and Ultimate Classic Rock decided to repost stuff off of my Facebook page about Brett Kavanaugh and Ford and how I wasn’t sure I believed either one etcetera etcetera,” Rikki said (see video below).

“I’ve been told many times to keep my politics to myself, but, really, I thought that what I was doing was trying to keep everybody more open-minded, but it didn’t really come off that way,” he continued. “So I’m not gonna post things that are political in nature anymore, because I’m not a political animal and I’m really kind of moderate and I try to look at what’s really there and not anything to do with parties; I just try to see what makes the most sense. And I can have my likes and dislikes — if I don’t like a particular actor, I don’t like a particular actor. I don’t like the way Brett Kavanaugh came off; I just don’t. So if people are mad at me about it, then they can [be]. I don’t know him, so maybe he is a nice guy; I don’t know. He just didn’t come off like a nice guy; he came off as somebody that I wouldn’t want [on the Supreme Court]… I don’t care if it’s a Republican or a Democrat in there, just as long as it’s a good guy. So that’s all I care about.”

In his previous Facebook post, Rockett, who was once falsely accused of sexually assaulting a woman more than a decade ago, said that he didn’t like Kavanaugh on a personal level, saying that he thought Kavanaugh was “a frat boy who has probably gotten away with all kinds of shit that a privileged person has gotten away with all his life.” He went on to describe Kavanaugh as “arrogant and very partisan.” At the same time, he said that Ford was “brave” and “credible,” but pointed out that she didn’t have “proof” that she was ever assaulted by Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh was sworn in as the 114th Supreme Court justice in a private ceremony Saturday just hours after the Senate voted to confirm him. His confirmation came in the midst of the powerful #MeToo movement that has swept the country in the last year.

Kavanaugh and his Republican allies claimed that he was the victim of a “political hit job” by Democrats. They suggested that Ford was being exploited for partisan purposes.
