Mah, decisamente evitabile questo disco dei Plunge. “Hometown Hero” è infatti un album abbastanza dozzinale, con le sue canzoni rock/popeggianti estremamente orecchiabili ma troppo zuccherose e patinate (per farvi un’idea pensate che in “Wasted on your love” ci sono delle parti che mi hanno fatto pensare alle boy band). Nulla di inascoltabile (non è che le canzoni infastidiscano), per carità, tuttavia neanche nulla in grado di lasciare il segno (e la troppa “adolescenzialità” impedisce anche di gustarsi i brani per un po’ di tempo prima di farli cadere nel dimenticatoio, al contrario di quanto accade con altri dischi simili che almeno all’inizio si fanno godere parecchio). Va detto poi che in realtà “Hometown Hero” qualche canzone più riuscita (tipo la title track) la contiene, tuttavia queste non bastano a fargli meritare più di un 5 e mezzo…
Insomma, forse questo disco strapperà il cuore a qualche quattordicenne (d’altronde la foto che c’è sul promo, che a me provoca rigetto, sembra fatta apposta), ma di sicuro non ha strappato il mio interesse.
