According to The Pulse Of Radio, PEARL JAM frontman Eddie Vedder performed at President Barack Obama‘s farewell address to the nation in Chicago on Tuesday night (January 10). Joined by members of the Chicago Children’s Choir, Vedder performed his own “Rise”, Patti Smith‘s “People Have The Power”, Neil Young‘s “Rockin’ In The Free World” and the anti-apartheid anthem “(Something Inside) So Strong”. Vedder was also later shown on television watching Obama’s speech.

Both men spent much of their formative years in the Windy City.

Vedder also attended the Obamas‘ farewell party at the White House on Friday night (January 6), which was attended by dozens of luminaries from the worlds of film, TV and music.

Vedder, along with the rest of PEARL JAM, will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April. The band made the cut after being placed on the ballot for the first time since it became eligible.

PEARL JAM also recently donated $70,000 to help a man with his medical costs some 15 years after the man himself actually rescued Vedder in a boating mishap.
