MICHAEL WILTON Says 'Intensity' Of QUEENSRŸCHE's Live Shows Found Its Way Into Music On 'The Verdict'

Michael Wilton says that being in a band that tours as much as QUEENSRŸCHE does has certainly had an effect on the musical direction of the group’s latest album, “The Verdict”.

“The connection you get from the fans, seeing the joy in their faces, that is a high you can’t do with medicine, you know,” he told Concert Guide Live. “It’s a real connection, and that’s what’s great about being in a band; connecting with the fans, getting that live access, and the fans reciprocate. That’s what keeps the whole thing rolling. Whether it’s a hundred people or a thousand people, you give the same intense show.

“I think it’s gotten to a point where bands like ours tour so much, and that aspect of playing live starts to infiltrate the creative process,” Wilton explained. “The intensity found its way into the music on ‘The Verdict’. And when you’re on the road all the time, ideas come up and you just put them into your computer, document them, and just keep them organized. When it comes time to record, you pull them out and we all start working on them as a band. It’s something I’ve been doing over 35 years, and it works the same way on each album.”

The current QUEENSRŸCHE lineup features Wilton and fellow original member, bassist Eddie Jackson, along with guitarist Parker Lundgren and vocalist Todd La Torre.

“The Verdict” marks QUEENSRŸCHE‘s third full-length release with La Torre, following the departure of Geoff Tate in 2012.

For the past two years, drummer Scott Rockenfield has been taking time off from QUEENSRŸCHE‘s touring activities to spend time with his young son, who was born in early 2017. Filling in for him is former KAMELOT drummer Casey Grillo.

La Torre, who has played drums since the age of 13, laid down the drum tracks on “The Verdict”.
