Dopo un demo cd nel 2002, gli Holy sinner, band fiorentina dedita ad un hard ‘n’ heavy di stampo classico che ha come punti di riferimento gli Iron Maiden e i primi Savatage, arrivano alla pubblicazione di “Don’t challenge the Holy Sinner!” primo Ep completamente autoprodotto dalla band stessa. Dopo un breve intro, dai contorni piuttosto tristi ma epici al tempo stesso, esplode la veloce title track, pezzo piuttosto dinamico con continui cambi di tempo e dal sapore tipicamente maideniano soprattutto nell’esecuzione del ritornello. In men che non si dica mi ritrovo ad ascoltare le successive “Sleeping #1” e “My secrets” che hanno ottimi riff di chitarra, arrangiamenti assolutamente interessanti e ben strutturati e ottime linee vocali per opera di Andrea Sklemba che riesce a creare ritornelli davvero interessanti e ben congeniati. La conclusiva “The spider”, dall’andamento piuttosto pesante e con un riff che rimanda con la mente alla “new wave of british heavy metal” e ai Maiden in primis, è forse il pezzo più intrigante di tutto questo breve Ep e dimostra senza troppi problemi che questi ragazzi hanno classe da vendere. In definitiva ho trovato questo cd parecchio interessante e ben suonato. Prima di tutto la produzione fresca e potente permette a tutti gli strumenti di uscire piuttosto bene dalle casse delle stereo e questo conferisce senza ombra di dubbio punti in più alla band, inoltre tutti gli Holy Sinner sono musicisti discretamente preparati capaci di creare delle canzoni davvero interessanti ed accattivanti.
