H&M Reportedly Launching Metal Clothing Line With Fake Bands

According to Billboard.com, clothing retail chain H&M has reportedly launched a new clothing line selling a series of t-shirts with logos of what appears to be obscure metal bands such as Mortus, Motmros, Lany, and Mystic Triangle.

However when doing a search of these bands, they are traced back to a company called Strong Scene Productions. It turns out H&M had nothing to do with the creation of these bands, but Strong Scene Productions “invented” these bands for H&M to use rather than real bands.

Henri Sorvalli of Finntroll and Moonsorrow is one of the people behind the idea. Here are a couple things he had to say:

On if this campaign is against the exploitation of metal by retailers:

“Partially, yes. But we also wanted to point out the fact that you cannot commercialize a subculture without actually knowing all the different aspects of it. Knowledge on your product is essential in marketing, and Strong Scene supports self-awareness and education for everyone on the matter. And no, I also haven’t been hired for a job by H&M either, which the wildest rumors claimed!”
