Last month, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH entered the studio to begin recording its eighth album, due later in the year. The new disc is once again being helmed by Kevin Churko, the Canadian record producer/engineer and songwriter who currently lives in Las Vegas, where he works out of his private studio, The Hideout Recording Studio.

New video footage from the studio can be seen below.

Guitarist Zoltan Bathory stated about the new FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH material: “Man, so far, this record is gonna be… Holy shit! It’s nasty— some nasty riffs. The vocals are great. Kind of like ‘War Is The Answer’ [2009], ‘The Way Of The Fist’ [2007] a little bit. For some reason, the music is kind of shifting back to that heavier side. And, man, I’m really, really curious to see how it’s gonna turn out, because… Wow! I’m very, very happy with what’s happening.”

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH has yet to announce a permanent replacement for drummer Jeremy Spencer, who left the band in December. After sitting out the fall leg of the group’s recent co-headlining tour with BREAKING BENJAMIN, Spencer underwent a second back surgery and will need a significant amount of time to recover.

For its fall tour, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH was joined behind the kit by Charlie “The Engine” Engen. It is not clear if he will remain with the group or if they will seek a new and permanent replacement for Spencer.

Spencer co-founded FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH in 2005 with guitarist Zoltan Bathory.

This past April, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH teamed up with Brian May of QUEEN and two of the biggest names in country and blues rock, Brantley Gilbert and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, to record a special version of “Blue On Black”, a blues rock song originally recorded by the KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD BAND in 1998.
