DEF LEPPARD's VIVIAN CAMPBELL To Be Honored With 'Oh Yeah Legend' Award In Belfast

DEF LEPPARD and LAST IN LINE guitarist Vivian Campbell will receive this year’s Oh Yeah Legend Award. The award recognizes the exceptional contribution of a musician or music industry figure from Northern Ireland.

The 54-year-old musician will be honored at an event at the Mandela Hall in Belfast on Saturday, November 11 which will run alongside the NI Music Prize.

The presentation — which will mark the end of this year’s Sound of Belfast festival — will be followed by a live performance from Vivian with LAST IN LINE, in which he is joined by fellow founding DIO member Vinny Appice, plus singer Andrew Freeman, who has previously fronted HURRICANE and LYNCH MOB and bassist Phil Soussan (OZZY OSBOURNE, BEGGARS & THIEVES, Steve Lukather).

Campbell commented: “I’ve been very fortunate that my life’s work has also been my passion. It’s an honor to be recognized for that, and especially so when that recognition comes from my fellow countrymen.”

Oh Yeah CEO Charlotte Dryden added: “Vivian Campbell is a global rock name, he’s fully deserving of this award, rock has played a massive role in the story of music in NI and Vivian is one of the trailblazers.

“We’re delighted to welcome back Blue Moon as our live music partner for what will no doubt be a rousing night for fans of Vivian and a brilliant end to the NI Music Prize as well as the closing night of the Sound Of Belfast program.”

Previous recipients of the Oh Yeah Legend Award include Gary Moore (posthumous) (2012), THE UNDERTONES (2010), THERAPY? (2014), Henry McCullogh (2009) and STIFF LITTLE FINGERS (2011).
