Seguo la pazza band francese sin dagli esordi, quando i cugini transalpini spedirono una manciata di promo del loro primo ep per racimolare qualche data in giro nella penisola. E’ probabile che non li abbia chiamati nessuno perché la situazione si prospettava già grave cinque anni fa, figuriamoci come potrebbero andare ora le cose, visto che i Comity hanno affinato le proprie armi e prodotto il secondo lavoro ufficiale della propria carriera.
Nati nel ’96 come escrescenza malata della florida scena extreme francese, i nostri hanno portato avanti, nel tempo, un discorso sonoro basato sulla schizofrenia musicale più assoluta. Decisamente più dissociati dei Dillinger Escape Plan, i Comity danno vita ad una proposta sonora alquanto bizzarra, fatta di parti violente e tecniche, ma anche di massicci e repentini abbassamenti dell’umore (Neurosis), slanci psicotici (Breach) e digressioni ossessive (Burst). Tutto nasce e si evolve in maniera totalmente incontrollata e maniacale, secondo una logica interna che è impossibile da decifrare e comprendere.
Parlare di “…As Everything Is A Tragedy” come un disco musicale è sicuramente riduttivo, l’opera ha le fattezze ideologiche di un quadro surrealista e l’ascolto prolungato deve essere prescritto solo ed esclusivamente dal medico di famiglia.
Non cercate punti di riferimento in questo lavoro perché non ce ne sono affatto. Ne musicali, ne prettamente “materiali” (tracklist), ne cognitivi…
