According to The Pulse Of Radio, SOUNDGARDEN singer Chris Cornell said in a new interview with Status magazine that he thinks the band has been underrated over time. Cornell explained: “I could say that maybe in some levels, SOUNDGARDEN is underrated. If I could say all the arrogant things about my band, I think that out of all the rock bands that probably came out in the same era, we’re one of the most experimental. I could say that we were the most varied in our songwriting. I think we were way more adventurous from one album to the next.”

Cornell told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that SOUNDGARDEN‘s songwriting has always made the band unique. “We were never an easy band to mimic,” he said. “There’s a lot of bands influenced by us, but I don’t think you could sit down and point to three or four bands over the history of the last 20 years that really just tried to cop what we did and then came out. ‘Cause it wasn’t possible.”

Cornell recently revealed that work is well underway on the next SOUNDGARDEN disc, saying, “We have a bunch of new songs, and we’re working on them, and things are going really great. It’s really fun, and we’re definitely on the ground and running towards the next SOUNDGARDEN record.”

SOUNDGARDEN‘s last effort, “King Animal”, came out in November 2012.

“Higher Truth”, Cornell‘s fourth solo studio album, arrived on September 18.
