CHEAP TRICK React To Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction - “We Didn’t Try To Be Anything But What We Are”

Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen’s wife did not waste any time celebrating the news that the group will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame next year.

“She’s already out buying a dress, buying a black something,” Nielsen tells Billboard.

But he’s not planning to don a tux for the April 8th induction ceremony in Brooklyn. “I think what I wear [onstage] is my kind of tux. I’ll stick to that.”

Nielsen is, however, happy with the way Cheap Trick is positioned within the Rock Hall’s class of 2016, which also includes Chicago, Deep Purple, Steve Miller and N.W.A.

“If you go alphabetically, we’re No. 1,” he notes. “So thank you very much.”

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has announced some long, long overdue inductions into the questionable institution as Deep Purple, Cheap Trick, Chicago, and Steve Miller, along with hip-hop act N.W.A will be its class of 2016. The five acts, along with other honorees to be announced later, will be part of the 31st annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on April 8th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. HBO will film the ceremony for broadcast later in the spring. Tickets will go on sale to the public during February, with Rock Hall members receiving early access to a limited number of tickets.

The Rock Hall will try to recover from the black eye – hard rock legends Deep Purple –  who’ve been eligible for more than 20 years! The complete list of current and former members who are being inducted includes Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Rod Evans, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Glenn Hughes, Ian Paice and the late Jon Lord.
