BARONESS Streaming New Track “Shock Me”; In-Store Performances Announced

Baroness have shared a second song from their new album, Purple (out December 18th via Abraxan Hymns), premiering the single “Shock Me” last night via Dan Carter’s Rock Show on BBC Radio 1. The song is now streaming below.

“Along with the rest of Purple, “Shock Me” represents the net result of an arduous reformation/rehabilitation process following the release of Yellow & Green and the bus accident that nearly ended us,” said singer/guitar player John Baizley of the new song. “We were unsure three years ago whether we’d be able to be at this point again; and while it hasn’t been a particularly easy road to get back, it is truly thrilling to feel that familiar anxious excitement that comes before we release a new album and to put new music out into the world. We treasure these moments of excitement, as they have taken on a deeper level of significance in recent years.”

“Shock Me”:

Baroness recently revealed the cover for Purple via a time lapse video that shows John Baizley’s process for creating the album artwork. This clip follows fans piecing together quadrants of the album cover that were revealed via t-shirts shipped last week as part of the band’s deluxe album pre-order bundles.

Baizley has done the artwork for all of Baroness’ releases as well as fine art and album art for bands including Skeletonwitch, Black Tusk, Kvelertak and Kylesa.  A gallery can be seen at this location.

Baroness recently released “Ultraviolet” (Making Purple), giving fans the first look at the making of the band’s first new album in three years. The clip features John Baizley discussing the moment he got off the road from promoting Yellow & Green and the inspiration for the new songs.

Baroness launch their first US tour in support of the ten-song album with a round of intimate performances beginning November 27th at the Ace Of Cups in Columbus, Ohio.

“We’ve been off tour for too long,” said John Baizley. “It’s time for Baroness to start playing shows in the US again. We’re doing a short run through the eastern half of the States, in small clubs, getting our new songs stage ready for 2016. Who knows, maybe we’ll even throw in a few songs from the very early EPs and albums. See you soon.”

In conjunction with the tour announcement, the band unveiled the official music video for “Chlorine & Wine”. The clip, which was directed by Jimmy Hubbard, gives fans a raw, behind-the-scenes peek into the making of the song, including footage of Baroness writing and rehearsing the track as well as recording at producer Dave Fridmann’s Tarbox Road Studios.
