ALICE IN CHAINS Singer Supports ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Campaign

According to The Pulse Of Radio, two ALICE IN CHAINS fans have launched a petition asking that the band be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. The Seattle group’s first album, “Facelift”, came out in 1990, which would make them eligible under Hall Of Fame rules that an artist must be recording for 25 years before being nominated for induction. ALICE IN CHAINS singer/guitarist William DuVall seems to like the idea, since he retweeted a link to the petition sent to him by a fan.

The petition states in part, “It’s imperative that a band such as ALICE IN CHAINS be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame… All members, founding and present, deserve this accomplishment as a piece of pride for all of their blood, sweat and tears.”

Two of the band’s founding members, singer Layne Staley and bassist Mike Starr, both passed away.

With NIRVANA already in the Hall Of Fame, ALICE IN CHAINS is one of several seminal Seattle bands, along with PEARL JAM and SOUNDGARDEN, that is eligible for induction.

PEARL JAM guitarist Mike McCready was asked at the 2013 ceremony about his band’s chances. “You know, you never want to place any bets on anything,” he said. “I’m not a gambler, so I’m not going to try to put any odds on that. But I don’t know. I hope so. But you never know. You never know what happens. It could take a while.”

ALICE IN CHAINS recently made plans for a 19-date summer tour that will launch on July 17 at the Pala Casino Spa & Resort near San Diego, wrapping up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on August 16.

The band is donating two dollars from every pre-sold ticket to a fundraiser in memory of a fan named Stefan Dayne-Ankle, who recently passed away after a battle with leukemia.

The dates mark the first tour for the band since they hit the road back in 2013 and 2014 in support of their latest album, “The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here”.
