SLIPKNOT's SID WILSON: 'We Wanna Keep Trying To Do This For As Long As We Can'

Toazted conducted an interview with SLIPKNOT DJ Sid Wilson during the band’s current European summer festival tour. You can now watch the chat in three parts below.

Speaking about the fact that SLIPKNOT hit a somewhat turbulent patch after the release of 2008’s “All Hope Is Gone” album and the steps the band has taken to stop some of those things from recurring, Sid said: “I don’t know if I can make sure of stopping anything from happening ever again, ’cause, I mean, there’s so many variables involved with any kind of equation, you know what I mean?! You can only be one part of the equation and do your job as that part of the equation. So, like, if I’m not… It’s always my job to be ‘0’ in the equation. How someone else ends up equating out of, for me being part of that equation, is entirely up to them, basically. But I will say that we’ve definitely grown a lot. We’ve definitely been able to take steps to prevent from anything happening to us — at least as much as we can. There’s always things that are out of your control. But we’ve definitely gotten to a point where the people involved are all on the same page and we all agree that we wanna keep trying to do this for as long as we can. So there’s certain things that we have to put in place and certain things we have to do to enable us to do this.”

SLIPKNOT‘s latest album, “.5: The Gray Chapter”, was released in October 2014 following a six-year hiatus during which the band’s founding bassist Paul Gray died and original drummer Joey Jordison was dismissed.

A disgruntled former drumtech for SLIPKNOT last year revealed the identity of the band’s newest members by posting a picture of a backstage call sheet on Instagram.

The sheet, posted by Norm Costa, showed the names Jay Weinberg, their new drummer and Alessandro Venturella, the bassist. While the sheet didn’t point out who is who, Venturella‘s identity was pretty much revealed on accident in SLIPKNOT‘s music video for “The Devil In I”, where Venturella‘s hand tattoos were visible.

SLIPKNOT‘s “Summer’s Last Stand” tour kicks off on July 24 in West Palm Beach, Florida, wrapping up six weeks later on September 5 in Dallas. Joining SLIPKNOT on the road trip will be LAMB OF GOD, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and MOTIONLESS IN WHITE.
