In a brand new interview with The Aquarian Weekly, former GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist Slash spoke about what it was like spending his “summer vacation” last year with a band which influenced him when he was growing up, AEROSMITH.

“Well, if you remember, this is the second time I’ve toured with them,” he responded. “I toured with them with GUNS N’ ROSES, really when GUNS was first breaking back in 1989. That was just a whole cool setup. But this particular tour going out with AEROSMITH, this time around, for some reason, I can’t figure out why, but it was just something really great about jamming with these guys at this point in time. They played fucking great every single night. It was fun for us to play with a real rock ‘n’ roll band, because for what it is that we do, we are one of those few bands out there that’s really stripped down and just does the straight-ahead kind of raw rock ‘n’ roll band and there’s not a lot of people to sort of team up and go on tour with. There are really just a small handful of bands that we really sort of relate to. And just playing with AEROSMITH was just totally inspiring and I think it made us a better band. And I also saw AEROSMITH in a different light than I’ve ever seen them before. I really appreciated what a really great fuckin’ chemistry they had and just saw something in them that I might’ve taken for granted back in the day. So it was a lot of fun, it was a great summer and it was a great rock package too. And I got to jam with them on a handful of shows, so that was cool too.”

AEROSMITH‘s “Let Rock Rule” tour with support act SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS kicked off on July 10, 2014 at Nikon at Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh, New York and came to a close on September 12, 2014 in Canada.

In a 2014 interview with Access Atlanta, Perry said about Slash: “Since GUNS N’ ROSES ended the way they did, he’s been out there becoming an icon of his own and working with different lineups of people. This lineup of guys he has playing with him is really good. The band just rocks, and fits in with our style of music. That’s always a plus for the crowd. He just wants to get on the stage and play. He’s a tried and true guitar warrior and his efforts have paid off.”

As previously reported, Slash and his band MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS will release a double CD, triple vinyl set, Blu-ray and DVD on June 15. Titled “Live At The Roxy 25.9.14”, the package was recorded on September 25, 2014 at the legendary Roxy nightclub in West Hollywood, California, shortly after Slash issued his third solo album, “World On Fire”.

The set list features a mix of current tunes, other tracks from Slash‘s previous solo records, and classics from his earlier bands GUNS N’ ROSES and VELVET REVOLVER.

In addition to Slash and singer Myles Kennedy, the CONSPIRATORS features drummer Brent Fitz, bassist Todd Kerns and touring guitarist Frank Sidoris.

“World On Fire” sold around 29,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at No. 10 on The Billboard 200 album chart last September.

Slash recently told Classic Rock that he has “already started working” on material for his next studio set.
