Iconic rock guitarist Slash (GUNS N’ ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) has launched a FanBacked fundraising page for his upcoming horror movie “The Hell Within”. The film will be directed by Dennison Ramalho, who contributed to the cult anthology film “The ABCs Of Death 2” and written by Jeff Buhler, who penned the script for “The Midnight Meat Train”. It will be produced by Slash under his SlashFiction banner, in partnership with Benito Mueller and Wolfgang Mueller of Barry Films.

Rewards offered to investors include private screenings, premiere tickets, poster design, film scoring sessions with Slash, set visits, personal production update calls from Slash and, for $2,500, a “Corpse Cameo,” in which a fan’s face will be on a corpse in the film.

“The Hell Within” follows a woman from New York on a quest into the heart of the Brazilian jungle to save a missing girl, only to discover that the child was just the beginning.

Marie and her husband David live a charmed life in Manhattan. He’s a successful environmental attorney and she’s built an international aid organization that helps families in need across South America.

The only thing missing is a child.

When they start receiving disturbing phone calls from Teresa, a young girl in Brazil pleading for help, Marie can’t shake the feeling these calls are connected to her charity. She convinces David to travel with her to Rio to locate the missing girl and soon a series of strange events and a shocking suicide lead them into the heart of the jungle.

Marie and David find themselves isolated in Seringal, a village overrun with drug runners and lost souls, steeped in ritual and superstition. And as David falls ill to a mysterious disease, Marie begins to realize that the missing child was only the beginning of The Hell Within.

“I love creepy, haunting stuff,” says Slash. “I don’t go for psycho movies really. But I love monsters and scares that are more cerebral. I love practical effects that make those monsters seem more real on screen. When I read the script for ‘The Hell Within’, I knew it was the right project for my taste. It spoke to my horror sensibilities. And a story I know horror fans will dig as well.”

Slash‘s first film as a producer, “Nothing Left To Fear”, came out in 2013. He told Kerrang! magazine about going from that to his second project, “‘Nothing Left To Fear’ was really my first go, and it was a crash course in learning the film business… Having done that, I’ve amassed a lot of different great people to work with, and so now I’ve got a great crew working on this new movie.”

Slash is waiting to get off the road to start production so that he can be on the set during filming. He told The Pulse Of Radio that producing “Nothing Left To Fear” while on tour was a difficult experience. “The production of the film as far as filming had been backed up into my tour, and so I couldn’t actually be on location for the filming, which was really a drag,” he said. “I managed to show up for one day and one night, and the rest of it was all dailies, and that’s complicated ’cause you get done doing a gig, you take the bus to the next hotel, which is maybe four or five in the morning, get the computer out, download all the dailies, look at them, make comments or whatnot, you know, and that was going on for a while.”

“The Hell Within” will be released in Barco Escape, a multi-screen, panoramic movie format from Barco, a manufacturer of digital cinema technology. Slash called Barco Escape “a game changer,” adding, “It’s totally immersive and brings the movie going experience to a whole new level.”

Slash and his band are currently touring Europe but will return for some U.S. dates in September.
