MÖTLEY CRÜE's VINCE NEIL: 'We Defined A Generation In The '80s'

MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil recently spoke to The New Zealand Herald about the band’s “The Final Tour”, which kicked off last year and will end New Year’s Eve at the Staples Center in Los Angeles after one more round of North American gigs

“Everybody says, ‘We’re doing a final tour,’ but nobody believes you,” he said. “Everyone who does a final tour does a reunion tour. There are bands who have done five or six final tours — then a reunion tour. We’re not that band.”

MÖTLEY CRÜE first announced plans for “The Final Tour” by signing a Cessation Of Touring Agreement at a press conference in Los Angeles in January 2014, solidifying the end of their touring career for December 2015. Since the announcement, the band has been touring tirelessly to say goodbye to fans around the world, most recently playing their final shows in Japan.

“We went that extra mile to convince everyone that this really is it. We’re ending on our terms — we’re ending on top,” Neil said.

Vince also spoke about what it feels like knowing that MÖTLEY CRÜE is playing some of its final shows. “It sucks,” he said. “When you look around and you’re singing the last song and you know that you’re not going to be on stage with these four guys in this place anymore, it is a little bittersweet. We still have a lot of shows to do, but I think it’s really going to catch up with everybody in the last week.”

Regarding how he wants CRÜE to be remembered, Neil said: “[As a] great band … who did everything for our fans.” He added: “There were a lot of firsts with us. We defined a generation in the ’80s. We defined MTV culture. We made a type of music that everyone followed. There are a lot of things to be proud of with our band … We went out our way. We did it our way.”
