MÖTLEY CRÜE's TOMMY LEE Is Enjoying 'The Golden Years' Of His Life: 'It's Been Pretty F**king Rad'

Speaking about his decades-long struggle to balance family duties with life as a touring musician, Lee said: “When you’re touring and working all around the world constantly, I missed so many of those, I’m sure, really special times and years that just blew by. I’d be on tour, and you’re out there for a year, and I’d maybe see my kids twice in a year. They’d come out for a weekend and go home. So there’s times that I’ll never get back that I missed. I don’t know what I missed, but I know I missed something probably really beautiful. So I feel like I’m playing catch-up.”

The rocker, who has been off the road since the CRÜE completed its final tour in December 2015, continued: “I don’t think people understand how that all works when you have kids and a touring career where you’re constantly gone — you’re always gone. And I often wonder: why do I have this big, beautiful fucking mansion that I’m never at. I ask myself ‘why’ a lot. But now I’m actually enjoying it. I can take a year off and float in the pool that I’ve never floated in [because] I’m never here. I’m doing shit that I needed to do, like catch up with my kids, enjoy my home — do the things that I never get to do. And I really feel like these are the golden years, man — with my family and me personally. It’s been pretty fucking rad.”

This past December, Tommy made up with his son Brandon, less than a year after an alleged brawl between them at the rocker’s home in Calabasas, California.

At the time of the March 2018 incident, Brandon released a statement to People, in which he claimed his father is battling alcoholism and that he had worked “tirelessly organizing an intervention.”

Tommy denied the allegations the same day, tweeting: “You didn’t arrange any intervention, you barely spoke to me while u were here.”

Last June, Brandon offered to pay for his father’s rehab, less than a day after Tommy took another swipe at Brandon on social media. After Brandon shared some of their turbulent recent history — even revealing that Tommy did not call his son for his birthday on June 5, 2018 — Tommy posted a tweet in which he tallied up the costs of various things in Brandon‘s life he paid for, including a stint in rehab.

Tommy married Brittany Furlan this past Valentine’s Day.

The 56-year-old rocker tied the knot with the 32-year-old social media star one year after they got engaged.
