According to Global News, METALLICA set a new attendance record with its concert Saturday night (September 15) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

16,874 fans turned out for the band’s performance at SaskTel Centre, beating the facility’s all-time attendance record of 15,806, set by Garth Brooks.

“This METALLICA concert is the single largest attended event in the history of SaskTel Centre,” SaskTel Centre executive director Scott Ford said.

METALLICA‘s show in Saskatoon on Saturday marked the band’s first performance in the city in 14 years.

The stage was positioned in the center of the stadium floor, with Lars Ulrich‘s drum set placed at center ice.

Saskatoon is one of only two Canadian cities METALLICA is playing during the 2018 “WorldWired” tour — the other is Winnipeg, where the band performed on September 13.

METALLICA kicked off the 2018/2019 North American leg of the “WorldWired” arena tour on September 2 at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
