According to The Pulse Of Radio, HALESTORM singer/guitarist Lzzy Hale told Heavy magazine in a new interview that her teachers were not super supportive when she and her brother and drummer Arejay Hale launched the band back in 1997 when she was just 13 years old.

Hale recalled: “All of our teachers would have interventions. We started a rock band, and they would try to tell us, like, ‘Hey, that’s actually a stupid idea. You shouldn’t be putting all your eggs in one basket and you shouldn’t be obsessed with a band. You should be looking at going to college.'”

She continued: “I went to a high school where you’re pretty much told the same thing. If you signed up to do music or drama, you’re always told by the teachers, ‘Hey, it’s good that you want to do this class, but it’s not a future’… We had quite a bit of defiance at that point because I don’t know, all of a sudden, everything [else] came second.”

Hale told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago that she and her band enjoy taking creative risks. “With every new risk that we take, a whole other door opens up, you know, another opportunity,” she said. “So I hope that we will take every opportunity given to us and I guess just see what happens and take the most risks we can.”

HALESTORM is currently on a summer tour with ALICE COOPER that stops on Wednesday night (July 31) in Irving, Texas. Following that, the quartet will join forces with GODSMACK on a fall run that launches on September 20 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. HALESTORM continues to tour behind its fourth album, “Vicious”, which came out in July 2018.
