WARRANT bassist Jerry Dixon has praised vocalist Robert Mason, who replaced Jani Lane in 2008. The former LYNCH MOB singer has performed on 2011’s “Rockaholic” and 2017’s “Louder Harder Faster”, and has brought a degree of stability to the band after Lane‘s unceremonious departure and subsequent 2011 death. WARRANT continues to tour regularly in support of “Louder Harder Faster” and is rounded out by original members Erik Turner (guitar), Joey Allen (guitar) and Steven Sweet (drums).

In an interview with Sydney Taylor and Jay Oakley of MA Entertainment Global at this year’s M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, Maryland (audio below), Dixon was asked about how he felt about the band’s most recent studio albums. “For me, I really don’t like a record until later on,” he said. “Now, I’m starting to like ‘Louder Harder Faster’. Because you’re doing it and then you’re, like, ‘Oh, it’s different than I thought it should be.’ Later on, I listened to it last week, I’m, like, ‘This is pretty fucking good.’ Now I like it! Then I listen to ‘Rockaholic’ and I’m, like, ‘I love that record.'”

Dixon then talked about the quality of WARRANT‘s live performances in light of the fact the band is performing with four-fifths of its classic lineup. “That makes a big difference,” he said. “Even not just singers, like members, bass players, drummers. When Steven was out with his cancer and we had another drummer who was fantastic, but it sounds different, as it should. When you do have the original musicians with Robert, it’s WARRANT on steroids. It’s killer.”

“Louder Harder Faster” was released in 2017 via Frontiers Music Srl. The disc was recorded with producer Jeff Pilson — a veteran bassist who has played with DIO, FOREIGNER and DOKKEN, among others — and was mixed by Pat Regan, except for the song “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here And Drink”, which was mixed by Chris “The Wizard” Collier (FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, PRONG, LAST IN LINE).
