JEFF PILSON And GEORGE LYNCH Have Written One New Song For Reunited DOKKEN

Bassist Jeff Pilson has revealed that the reunited classic lineup of DOKKEN is working on one new song, to be released in time for the band’s tour in October.

DOKKEN mainman Don Dokken announced last month that he, Pilson, guitarist George Lynch and drummer Mick Brown have agreed to reunite for a six shows in Japan, including an appearance at the Loud Park festival.

Pilson, who says “scheduling” has been the biggest obstacle in staging a reunion, tells his official blog in a new interview that he and Lynch have written the music for a new track, with the hopes of recording it in the coming months.

The bassist, who has been a member of FOREIGNER since 2004, says: “George did come over two days ago and we wrote the music to a new track that I sent to Don yesterday.

“The plan is, hopefully, to somehow record one song before the tour to include as part of the packaging.

“The song we wrote is awesome. I can’t wait to hear what Don does to it.”

Asked whether there could be more new music from DOKKEN in the future, even if the band’s touring activities are limited, Pilson says: “That’s something I would truly enjoy and know George thinks that as well. But let’s just take it one step, or song, at a time. I do hope this new song comes out as good as I imagine.”

Even though Don has made it clear he is not interested in fielding gig offers from promoters outside of Japan, Pilson is not opposed to taking the DOKKEN reunion to other parts of the world. Jeff says: “It comes down to scheduling. FOREIGNER has our big 40th anniversary tour next year, so that’s a factor. Plus Don is saying he’s really only interested in doing it in Japan, so I guess that’s it.

“I’d certainly be open to doing more if it could work out, but if it’s just Japan, I’m fine with that too.”
