DEF LEPPARD, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Members Play Debut DELTA DEEP Show In Los Angeles (Video)

DELTA DEEP, the new blues-based music project featuring Phil Collen (lead guitarist of DEF LEPPARD) and Robert DeLeo (bassist for STONE TEMPLE PILOTS) in addition to Debbi Blackwell-Cook (back-up vocalist for such artists as Michael Buble and Luther Vandross) and Forrest Robinson (drummer for India.Arie, JOE SAMPLE AND THE CRUSADERS, TLC) played its first live show to a sold-out crowd, including DEF LEPPARD bandmate Vivian Campbell, on June 17 at Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles.

DELTA DEEP “heated up the room with a set of songs from their self-titled debut album. From the kickass opening number, LED ZEPPELIN‘s ‘Black Dog’, the gathering was introduced to Blackwell-Cook‘s husky, swampy, deliciously-bluesy voice,” raved New Noise Magazine.

The band tore through originals such as “Bang The Lid”, “Miss Me” and “Shuffle Sweet” as well as covers like “Mistreated”, to the delight of the fans. Collen exclaimed, “We were totally blown away by the response from our sold out debut performance. It was above and beyond what we expected but we were ready and hit Hollywood with everything we had. We can’t wait to tour this monster!”

DELTA DEEP‘s self-titled debut album, a mix of original and hand-picked cover tracks, was released on June 23 on Mailboat Records and also features special guest appearances by DEF LEPPARD vocalist Joe Elliott, WHITESNAKE‘s David Coverdale, SEX PISTOLS/MANRAZE drummer Paul Cook, and GIRL/MANRAZE bassist Simon Laffy.

Collen initially started DELTA DEEP in 2012 after jamming over the course of a year with friend and relative Debbi Blackwell-Cook. What started as a casual pairing singing Motown and classic blues staples quickly became a quartet who share a love for soul, funk and the blues when they added STP‘s DeLeo and drummer Forrest Robinson.
