DAVE MUSTAINE 'Would Love Nothing More' Than To Go To Heaven At Same Time As His Wife

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine says that his father-in-law was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and has only a few weeks to live.

The revelation comes less than two years after the passing of Mustaine‘s mother-in-law, Sally Estabrook, who went missing in October 2014 and was found dead more than a month later.

Speaking to fans via Periscope on Wednesday (July 13) from Bucharest, Romania, where MEGADETH was scheduled to perform last night, Mustaine said (see video below): “[We have] four more shows [to play on this European run] and then we’ll be home. And then I’m gonna go out to go see my father-in-law and go love on him.

“I’m so sad. He’s a good man, and I just wanna let him know that I’m gonna help with everything that I can. So I’m go out there and love on him.

“It’s been a rough month, man, with Nick [Menza, former MEGADETH drummer] going and my father-in-law getting ready to pass away.”

He continued: “Any of you that have seen the movie ‘The Notebook’ [the popular romantic novel and film about a long-married couple dealing with Alzheimer’s that die together in their sleep], you probably dig when you’re in love with somebody and you’re married and they pass away, you don’t wanna… you don’t really wanna be without ’em. And when you’re that old, sometimes you wanna go at the same time.

“I’ve always promised [my wife] Pam that when she passes away, I’m gonna go with her. I would love nothing more than [for] both of us to go to heaven at the same time. It would be very sad, and I don’t wanna leave you guys, but I certainly don’t wanna be without her.”

MEGADETH was going announce the details of its upcoming North American headlining tour on July 11 but “some last-minute details had to be changed,” according to Mustaine. Joining MEGADETH on the five-week trek, which is expected to take place this fall, will be AMON AMARTH, along with METAL CHURCH, HAVOK and an as-yet-undisclosed fifth act.

MEGADETH‘s last full U.S. tour took place earlier in the year and featured support from SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, CHILDREN OF BODOM and HAVOK.
