Howie D. from Hard Edge Radio and National Rock Review recently conducted an interview with Kirk Windstein of New Orleans sludge metal veterans CROWBAR. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below.

Asked to name his biggest fear as a musician, Kirk responded: “My biggest fear, being a musician, is probably has already come true, which is the way the business is these days, with no one selling records and illegal downloading. I mean, it really, really, really has changed… I mean, bands that were once very successful are literally falling off the map; I mean, they are falling off the face of the earth. It’s, like, bands, they’ll get popular, and thrn, boom, they’re gone. We’ve been so fortunate to survive that, but I think a lot of the reason we have survived and we continue to thrive and continue to move forward is that we never did have a huge amount of success and we never were the hot flavor-of-the-month thing. We never fit into any genre. We’re just CROWBAR. We make our own music. And, for us, it’s just about… slow and steady wins the race. You know, the hare-and-the-tortoise mentality: keep doing what you’re doing, keep doing it at a high level, be great to your fans, treat them with respect, kick ass every night, and you’ll be able to continue doing it.”

CROWBAR‘s latest album, “Symmetry In Black”, sold around 3,900 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 68 on The Billboard 200 chart.

CROWBAR‘s previous CD, 2011’s “Sever The Wicked Hand”, opened with around 3,500 units to land at position No. 4 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

“Symmetry In Black” came out in North America on May 27, 2014 via Entertainment One Music. The CD, which was made available in Europe on May 26, 2014 through Century Media Records, was produced by CROWBAR guitarist/vocalist Kirk Windstein and Duane Simoneaux and was mixed by Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, GOJIRA).
