CINDERELLA Guitarist JEFF LABAR Is Studying To Become Professional Cook

CINDERELLA guitarist Jeff LaBar has enrolled in the culinary arts associate degree program at The Art Institute Of Tennessee.

Says LaBar: “I was hesitant to post anything about it, fearing a backlash from CINDERELLA fans who miss the band. I kept it to myself through the enrollment process, but now that it’s out there, the pressure’s on to succeed.

“Being a two-year program, I won’t see a kitchen ’till October. For now, it’s required gen ed classes, psychology of success and public speaking for me.

“I really appreciate the support and hope to be cooking soon.”

In the Associate program, students begin with basic culinary principles and skills, as well as kitchen and dining room operations. Their studies also include fundamental business skills such as cost control and supervising foodservice personnel. Upon graduation, they are prepared to seek entry-level positions such as line cook, prep cook, first cook, baking trainee, and catering assistant in restaurants, luxury resorts, and contract foodservice companies.

CINDERELLA frontman Tom Keifer recently told RockRevolt Magazine that “some issues” within the band — “going back decades” — have effectively sidelined the group for the past four years. He explained: “We took some pretty extreme measures to right the ship and fix things, and we made a pact as a band in 2012 that we would not do anything as a band until the issues were resolved. That’s how much it came to a head. The issues are unresolved, so that’s all I can say about that.”

Although CINDERELLA hasn’t released a new studio album since 1994’s “Still Climbing”, the band started playing sporadic shows again in 2010 but has been largely inactive for the last few years while Keifer focuses on his solo career.

LaBar released his debut solo album, “One For The Road”, on August 26, 2014 through Rat Pak Records.
