Christina Rowatt of The Void recently conducted an interview with former SEPULTURA and current CAVALERA CONSPIRACY members Max Cavalera (guitar, vocals) and Igor Cavalera (drums). You can now watch the chat below.

Speaking about CAVALERA CONSPIRACY‘s forthcoming fourth album, “Psychosis”, Igor said: “We always had a lot of really great ideas together and, of course, this chemistry. But I think it’s just one of those things where the timing was really aligned on what we wanted to show. And then, of course, having the help of a really good producer, which is our friend, Arthur Rizk, he kind of understood what we were trying to get with this record, which was something very extreme, but at the same time without forcing [it] — being natural, being as we always like to do stuff.”

Igor added that he and his brother were “super excited” about “Psychosis” and he expressed hope that “a lot of people will get the same feeling that we’re having right now.”

According to Max, the ongoing “Return To Roots” tour, during which he and Igor are celebrating the twentieth anniversary of SEPULTURA‘s classic album “Roots” by performing the LP in its entirety, had an influence on the musical content of the new CAVALERA CONSPIRACY material.

“What was cool about it, I think, was we went in the studio kind of in the middle of the ‘[Return To] Roots’ tour, so I think we were totally energized by the ‘Roots’ tour, because we saw all those people and it was so exciting that we took that to the studio — that excitement — and I think that was really good,” he said. “The record doesn’t sound [anything] like ‘Roots’; I think it’s completely… except for [the title track] ‘Psychosis’, which Igor recorded some stuff in Africa and we made an instrumental that’s really cool.” But, he added, “I think going from the tour to the studio, all that together, the timing [had an impact on how it turned out].”

“Psychosis” will be released on November 17 via Napalm Records. The disc was recorded primarily at a studio in Phoenix, Arizona. The follow-up to 2014’s “Pandemonium” was mastered by Joel Grind from TOXIC HOLOCAUST and features a guest appearance by Justin Broadrick from GODFLESH on the track “Hellfire”. Other songtitles set to appear on the CD include “Impalement Execution”, “Terror Tactics”, “Excruciating”, “Crom” and “Insane”.

“Pandemonium” sold around 2,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 177 on The Billboard 200 chart. That disc was produced by John Gray, who had previously worked with SOULFLY.
