Cattivissimo Black Metal quello proposto dai Behexem in questo “By The Blessing Of Satan”. I finlandesi giungono al secondo full-length (il primo dei quali “Rituale Satanum” è appena stato ristampato) dopo il passaggio alla Woodcut records (Thyrane, Horna).
Il gruppo ripesca a piene mani nel repertorio dei Dark Throne più grezzi (“Under A Funeral Moon”), di questa base però i Behexen non ne condividono la minimalità creando una proposta dalle molte sfumature che vede influenze anche nel seminato di band svedesi (Dissection, Dawn) andando sporadicamente a regalarci melodie molto epiche come quelle di “Celebration Of Christ’s Fall” o della conclusiva “Under The Eye Of Lord”.
La proposta della band presenta quindi diverse sfaccettature: quando i finlandesi vogliono essere più grezzi e ferali siamo vicini al sound creato da Nattefrost col suo progetto solista, quando invece decidono di essere più freddi saltano fuori taglienti riff di derivazione svedese, ma non è finita qui… “Black Metal Baptism” prima di partire con un assalto frontale in stile Tsjuder testimonia l’amore dei 5 per melodie decadenti e in “Fist Of The Satanist” i Behexen sembrano la versione iper-grezza degli Hypocrisy!!!
Qualunque sia la direzione in cui i Behexen si muovono i risultati sono sempre ottimi dimostrando che il gruppo sa dare valore a tutte le proprie influenze.
Ciò che salta fuori da quest’album e delle sue molte facce è la carica d’odio e blasfemia che il gruppo si porta addosso e “Watchers Of My Black Temple” nel suo inizio mostra che anche nei momenti più lenti e sulfurei non viene persa questa malsana attitudine. I Behexen non sono un gruppo Black tra tanti. Consigliatissimi!
