ANTHRAX In “Mixing Mode” Of New Record

On a new episode of Talking Metal podcast Mark Strigl interviews Frank Bello of Anthrax to discuss the band’s upcoming performance at the Food Truck and Rock Carnivalon Sunday September 20. They also talk about numerous other topics including Jon Snow, Game of Thrones, Public Enemy, the new Anthrax album and Lemmy’s health. The interview starts 8 minuntes into the show.

On the upcoming new Anthrax album – “Do you know what the fun part is? Now we are in this mixing mode of the record, You know, you write a record, ya know, hard work, there is a lot of everything going on, emotion and all that good stuff that gets the songs to where they have to be. You knit pick and we have purposely taken our time with this record because thankfully because of the success and reception of Worship Music, humbled and we feel really fortunate to be in the position where people are saying that Anthrax is back in with a vengeance.”

On how many songs will be on the record – “I think we wrote 18 songs for this record and I am pretty sure we are only going to pull ten or 11. It is going to be hard to choose. Like I said, there was a lot of creating going on, some really good vibes and it is really fun hearing the mixes…”

Anthrax is nearing the finish line with the recording of the band’s follow up to 2011’s Grammy-nominated album, Worship Music. The new album is due out in early-2016 via Megaforce Records.

In this new in-studio clip, Frank Bello talks about Anthrax’s writing and recording process, Charlie Benante gets into the pressure that Anthrax has felt with this new project and gives his thoughts about why the new album is “the next level” for Anthrax, and Scott Ian explains why the band recorded the 18 new songs in batches.

Anthrax will be hitting the road late-summer-into-fall, playing major US festivals, a series of North American dates with Motörhead, including Motörhead’s Motorboat cruise, and then dates in Japan and Europe, many with Slayer.  The full itinerary is below.
