POISON singer Bret Michaels has told Hyde Archives that he is “very supportive” of his eldest daughter, 19-year-old Raine Michaels, who recently became one of six finalists in the 2019 Sports Illustrated model search competition, posing for the mag in bathing suits in the Bahamas.

“It’s unbelievable,” he said (hear audio below). “And I’m saying this as a dad, and I’m a very self-deprecating guy. The funny part of me, I said, ‘Raine, don’t worry about your dear old diabetic dad. You go on and do Sports Illustrated. Don’t worry about my heart giving out on me.’ But honestly, I’m very supportive. She is a really smart girl. She goes to a great university down in Tennessee for broadcast journalism and music. And I said, ‘Just trust your gut. I’m here to protect you. There’s gonna be great things coming from this, as long as you’re enjoying it.’ And I said, ‘If you’re in a situation that does not feel right, you’ve gotta go with your gut and just be aware of your surroundings.’ But so far, Sports Illustrated has treated these girls absolutely great. And she’s one of the stars of the magazine — it just came out this last month — and now up for rookie of the year for next year.”

Raine told the New York Post that the upside of having a rock-star father is that he’s seen it all.

“Not all dads are super-supportive of their daughters going out to model in skimpy bikinis,” Raine said. “But [my dad] has been in this industry for so long, he knows it’s not weird.”

Raine and 14-year-old Jorja Bleu, along with their mom and Michaels‘s on-off love Kristi Gibson, appeared in the short-lived 2010 reality show “Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It”.

Jorja Bleu co-wrote Bret’s new single, “Unbroken”, which was released in March.
