VOLBEAT bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen has confirmed to France’s Loud TV that the band’s upcoming follow-up to 2016’s “Seal The Deal & Let’s Boogie” album will once again be producef by the group’s longtime collaborator Jacob Hansen. “He’s been doing all of the records, and why fix it if it ain’t broken?” Kaspar said (see video below). “But who’s gonna mix it, I don’t know. We don’t know yet. We’re talking about a few persons, but nothing is settled yet.”

According to Kaspar, the plan is for VOLBEAT to enter the studio in November, depending on how the songwriting process materializes over the course of the next few months.

“The thing is Michael [Poulsen, guitar/vocals] is coming up with rough ideas for songs,” the bassist said. “Sometimes Rob [Caggiano, guitar] is coming with some ideas too, but then it all happens in the rehearsal room, where we all kind of mix it together and come with ideas for arrangements and stuff.

“It’s a great process,” he continued. “I really feel that I’m a part of some great things happening, because I’ve got a lot of freedom to do what I want and I got a lot of feedback from the others. So it’s kind of a joint effort to get where we’re going.”

As for the musical direction of the new VOLBEAT material, Kaspar said: “There is a little bit of everything, but there’s also some new stuff going on. We’re kind of early in the process, so the songs are not totally done. We’ve got a lot of rough sketches, and we’ve both got fast songs and more slow songs, but it’s rocking, all of it.”

VOLBEAT‘s next LP will be the band’s first full-length effort to feature Kaspar Boye Larsen, who officially joined the group in 2016.

“Seal The Deal & Let’s Boogie” arrived in June 2016 and featured the chart-topping “Black Rose” and “The Devil’s Bleeding Crown”, in addition to the Top Five title track.

VOLBEAT is currently on a run of European festivals that will last through late July. The band does not have any North American dates on its current schedule.
