HATEBREED Drummer: 'It's Almost That Time To Get Back In A Studio' And Work On New Music

HATEBREED drummer Matt Byrne has told “Midwest Beatdown” that the band is preparing to begin writing material for the follow-up to 2016’s “The Concrete Confessional” album. “We were talking about working on some new stuff next year — 2019,” he said (hear audio below). “‘The Concrete Confessional’ came out in 2016; we’ve done a lot of touring behind it internationally. We’ve been all over the place — as we usually do. We don’t stop; we just go, go, go. So, yeah, it’s almost that time to get back in a studio and start throwing some ideas around.”

“The Concrete Confessional” was produced and mastered by HATEBREED‘s longtime collaborator Chris “Zeuss” Harris (ROB ZOMBIE, SUICIDE SILENCE, WHITECHAPEL) and mixed by Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, MEGADETH). Artwork was created by Marcelo Vasco (SLAYER).

In a 2016 interview with the Phoenix New Times, HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta said that there isn’t anything about the band’s musical path that surprises him. “We come from a scene where when a band blows up on that first album, and so they stick to that style,” he said. “I don’t know what it is about punk and hardcore, but they want stuff that came out 20 years ago. Even new kids that come in want the old stuff. This is probably why we’re a polarizing band, because we have hits on every record and success. Pretty much with every record we’ve destroyed the limitations and odds stacked against us, and that doesn’t happen a lot. You see the pressure from labels or outside things and infighting and lineup changes destroying bands. We’ve always been able to survive, and for whatever reason, it makes us a polarizing band.”
