DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT Drummer RYAN VAN POEDEROOYEN Posts "Ziltoid Goes Home" Live Drum Cam Footage

Devin Townsend Project drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen has checked in with the following update:

“Here’s a brand new drum cam from our recent summer tour of Europe. This footage was shot July 24th, 2015 in Munster, Germany at Jovel Music Hall. Tons of people have requested to see a drum cam of the song ‘Ziltoid Goes Home’ from Z2’s Dark Matters album. So, here it is!

I hope you guys enjoy this new video. I love playing this song live and it was by far my favourite song off of the Dark Matters album. There is a little bit of everything in this song…. fast double bass drumming, cool fills and lots of tasty grooves. I always try to groove with anything I play, whether it be a fast, medium or slow beat…. it’s all about feel, groove and being rock solid at all times while playing for the song.

The cool thing about this drum cam is the angle I shot it at. It’s from above the kit looking down so you can see the entire drumset and what I’m doing. The sound is still amazing from this angle and the video looks great as well thanks to my Zoom HQ8 Video Recorder!

Popular Question Answered:

I’ve been asked quite a few times if any editing or sound correction has been done to any of my drum cams. ALL of my drumcams have no editing, no fixing, no sound correction….. just me drumming and the true sound of my drums, recorded with a single camera and the camera’s microphone sound. That’s how all of my drum cams have been recorded; 100% real. Even if there are little flubs here and there in my performance, I will still release it! I go for the feel, groove and energy in the take. I always want to show the realistic and human side of drumming through these drum cams. I am human after all ;) Hope that answers that question :)

As always, thank you so much for your amazing support. I’m VERY grateful to have the support and following of such great people in my life. I can’t do any of this music stuff without your support. Endless thanks and gratitude!”
