Mitologia norrena, viking e black sono gli ingredienti di questo interessantissimo demo firmato Vinterblot, giovane band barese attiva da un paio d’anni 2008; la loro prima prova in studio è la dimostrazione che spesso l’abilità compositiva è assai più determinante dell’originalità a tutti i costi; nelle quattro tracce di “For Asgard” le pur evidenti influenze di certo death melodico (At The Gates) o viking (Amon Amarth) passano in secondo piano grazie ad un songwriting di ottimo livello, caratterizzato da essenzialità e immediatezza sin dall’ iniziale preludio di tastiere. Uno stile caratterizzato da un forte impatto frontale alla maniera degli Amon Amarth di “Death In Fire”, ma anche da tante trovate stilistiche che danno vita ad un suono possente e oscuro. Poi ci sono gli immancabili richiami alla mitologia, ad Asgard e Sleipnir, le voci narranti, una copertina misteriosa e affascinante, insomma tutto quel campionario mitologico talvolta un po’ stereotipato ma che se non ci fosse, lascerebbe con l’amaro in bocca i seguaci del genere! Del valore della band si sono accorti pure i Folkstone che li hanno voluti come apripista in terra di Puglia. Insomma, “For Asgard” è un ottimo lavoro, e i Vinterblot un altro nome da aggiungere nella vivace scena epic folk italiana
