FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH drummer Jeremy Spencer was recently by Cat Unrapped of the “Collision” radio show on Australia’s Voice FM. You can now listen to the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET).

On the “Jekyll And Hide” video, which starts off with the band on the phone, being told they have to come up with an idea for the clip:

“We had made some videos before that we really didn’t like making. It wasn’t a pleasant experience, so we were kind of tired of it. But, actually, when it came time to do this, we weren’t really enthused about the idea, but then whenever we decided we were just gonna smash stuff and break stuff and have fun, then we all got really into it. So that ended up being probably the most fun video we ever made. So my attitude now is if it’s gonna be fun like that, then yeah, I like to make videos.”

On his favorite part about being in FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH — touring or recording:

“I like all of it. I don’t know what my favorite part would be. Sometimes when the tour first starts, it’s kind of fun, and then by the end of tour, you’re burnt and then you wanna go in the studio and then that’s fun again. So I like parts of each of it. The songwriting process is always fun, ’cause you’re creating something that’s new for you to hear. It’s just like whenever the fans hear it for the first time, we’re excited too, because we’re making music for ourselves that we wanna listen to, first and foremost. So I always love that part of it; I think it’s fun. After being cooped up in the studio for a long period of time, though, it does start to wear you out, and you’re, like, ‘Okay, I wanna go play live.'”

On his favorite song on the new FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH album, “Got Your Six”:

“My favorite song right now is a song called ‘Wash It All Away’, which is getting ready to be the next single; it’s gonna follow up ‘Jekyll And Hyde’. So we’re excited. We’re getting ready to shoot the video for that coming up here in a couple of weeks. So I wanna get that going. I can’t want to get the single out. It’s probably my favorite song right now. Who knows? That may change in a week or so, but right now that’s the one I really enjoy.”

On whether there will be a lot of destruction in the “Wash It All Away” video:

“You know, I think we may not be doing too much destruction, but it’s gonna be a cool video, from what I’m hearing and what we talked about. And I don’t wanna reveal it yet. But there won’t be destruction… Well, you know what? There will be destruction, but it will be a different kind.”

“Got Your Six” entered The Billboard 200 album chart at No. 2, selling 119,000 copies in its first week of release.

This was the band’s third straight No. 2 debut, following both volumes of “The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell” in 2013.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH recently completed a co-headlining North American tour with PAPA ROACH and will head to Europe next month.
