Sumerian Records honcho Ash Avildsen has uploaded a video of his friend, former GUNS N’ ROSES drummer Steven Adler, playing along to the classic GN’R song “You Could Be Mine” in early October at Adler‘s house in Los Angeles. Check out the clip below.

Avildsen wrote on Instagram: “Here’s something the world has never seen before. ADLER PLAYING YCBM!! I went to my friend Steven Adler‘s house and asked him to play one of my all time favorite GNR songs.. Just so damn good. He still has it after all the insanity he put himself through. It’s nothing short of a miracle he can still play with his signature feel and swing. His return to stage at Dodger Stadium (and Cinci/Nashville) is one of the greatest underdog comeback stories in all of rock music. Once a star, always a threat. #GunsNRoses #YouCouldBeMine #StevenAdler we’re making movies over here!!”

The studio version of “You Could Be Mine” appeared on GUNS N’ ROSES‘ massive 30-song, two-and-a-half-hour opus “Use Your Illusion”, which featured Matt Sorum on drums on all but one song (“Civil War”).

Only singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan from the classic GUNS lineup have taken part in the band’s current reunion, although Adler has shown up at a handful of dates to sit in on two songs with the group.

Speculation about Adler having some sort of involvement in the GUNS N’ ROSES reunion has been rampant ever since the band made it official with a surprise April 1 show at The Troubadour in Los Angeles.

Adler was reportedly going to appear at that gig until he was sidelined by a back injury.

The regular GUNS N’ ROSES drummer for several years has been Frank Ferrer, who is also part of the current lineup.

Adler was thrown out of GUNS N’ ROSES in 1990 due to his heavy drug use, a problem he struggled with for years after his dismissal.

The South American leg of GUNS N’ ROSES“Not In This Lifetime” tour kicked off last night (Thursday, October 27) in Lima, Peru.
