Nic and Big J of the Boise, Idaho radio station 100.3 The X Rocks conducted an interview with former ANTHRAX and current VOLBEAT guitarist Rob Caggiano at this year’s Rock On The Range, which is being held May 15-17 at MAPFRE Stadium (formerly Crew Stadium) in Columbus. You can now watch the chat below.

Speaking about the progress of the songwriting sessions for VOLBEAT‘s follow-up to 2013’s “Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies” album, Caggiano said: “We were actually in Copenhagen before this tour [with ANTHRAX]. I was there for about a month, kind of working on… you know, rehearsing, just kicking around some new ideas.”

He continued: “We don’t have a solid start time for the studio yet, we don’t know, really, when we’re gonna get into recording and stuff, but the tentative idea is by the end of the year, I guess.”

Asked if he feels more comfortable working with VOLBEAT now that he has been in the band for more than two years, Caggiano said: “It just feels totally natural to me. I’m not even thinking about it. We all kind of click really well. So it’s good. It’s fun. We’re having fun.”

He went on to say: “Being in a band is definitely a unique thing. You need a certain chemistry to make it work. Otherwise, it just falls apart. And I’ve been lucky enough to have that with, I think, all the bands I’ve played with.”

VOLBEAT recently signed a North American management agreement with Q Prime, the New York-based music management firm founded and run by Cliff Burnstein and Peter Mensch.

Since forming in Copenhagen in 2000, VOLBEAT has released five studio albums and two live offerings.

“Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies” has sold almost 300,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. The title has been certified platinum in their home country of Denmark, alongside Germany and Austria, with gold sales in Finland and Sweden. The album has also been certified gold in Canada.

VOLBEAT‘s spring 2015 tour with ANTHRAX serving as direct support and CROBOT opening the show kicked off on April 24 in Denver, Colorado.
