In a brand new interview with Atlantic City Weekly, Vince Neil spoke about the end of MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s touring career and his nearly constant road work with his solo band.
“It was such a long time… over thirty years with the guys [in MÖTLEY CRÜE],” he said. “But I’ve done solo shows for almost a decade now with the guys in my band and it’s different, it’s raw. We play a lot of stuff MÖTLEY didn’t do. It’s cool, energetic and in your face. They are different bands, to be honest with you, and I’m having a good time doing this. We’re all friends, they are great players and it’s a different energy, so it’s cool.”
Asked if the wild partying days on the road are truly in the past for him, Vince said: “The craziest stuff was the early stuff that happened in the first few years. I mean, how are you really going to replicate that now? It was just so crazy. But it’s still a lot of fun. I love playing, I’m a road singer. The more I play and the more I’m out there doing it, the better it is. Working keeps me going. Once I’m out there, it’s the energy that I love. That’s what wakes me up every day.”
Neil‘s solo band includes Dana Strum and Jeff Blando from SLAUGHTER, along with drummer Zoltan Chaney.
MÖTLEY CRÜE called it quits in December 2015 following an eighteen-month tour that saw the group performing to packed houses all over the world.
A tour film about CRÜE‘s final shows, “The End”, came out last fall, and a film adaptation of the band’s 2001 autobiography “The Dirt” is still said to be in the works.
