SEVENDUST will enter the studio this fall to record the follow-up to 2015’s “Kill The Flaw” album for an early 2018 release. “We’re starting pre-production in October and we’ll be tracking in November, mixing in December,” guitarist John Connolly told Totally Driven Radio (hear audio below).

Regarding the progress of the songwriting sessions for SEVENDUST‘s next disc, Connolly said: “I actually just got back from Atlanta last week. I went up there with Morgan [Rose, drums] and Vinnie [Vince Hornsby, bass] and Lajon [Witherspoon, vocals], just to do a writing session, just to kind of crack the ice. We’ve got a handful of songs and now we kind of have a better idea of what everyone’s mindset is.”

He continued: “That’s always the toughest thing — if you write a ton of stuff, there could be sixteen different directions that you could end up going. But until you actually sit down with the guys in the band, you kind of don’t know [how it’s going to sound]… So, yeah, I think we have a decent understanding and idea of where everyone else’s plan is, what kind of a record they wanna make. And, yeah, the next three or four months, we’ll probably be busy getting it all set up and launch for spring.”

SEVENDUST‘s new album will be produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette, who has previously worked with ALTER BRIDGE and SLASH, among others.

SEVENDUST last year received its first-ever Grammy nomination after two decades together as a band. “Thank You”, the debut single from “Kill The Flaw”, got the nod for “Best Metal Performance”.
