SCOTT WEILAND's Bandmates And Children Remember Him On 50th Birthday

According to The Pulse Of Radio, the former bandmates and children of late STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland paid tribute to the singer on what would have been his fiftieth birthday this past Friday (October 27). Bassist Robert DeLeo wrote on Twitter: “A very gifted young man with such a beautiful voice would have turned fifty today. Happy birthday and much love, Scott.” The band’s official Twitter account posted: “Happy birthday, Scott. Fifty years ago today the world was given a gift. Thank you for all you gave us. Happy birthday.”

DeLeo told The Pulse Of Radio that he and the other members of STP were struck by Scott‘s energy when they first met him. “He was a lion, you know, he really was,” he said. “In every way in life, he was almost to the point of being hyper about creating and getting things done. We knew that he had that energy. Not only in the voice — I knew he could sing and he was a real singer — but the energy he brought along with that, it was something that he always had from when I met him.”

Meanwhile, Scott‘s children, Noah and Lucy, posted their first public comments since their father’s death on Facebook. The siblings posted a list online titled “Songs That Remind Me Of My Dad,” writing, “Happy Birthday Daddy. Here are a few songs that remind us of you on this special day and every day. XOXO-Noah & Lucy.”

Among the tracks that the children listed — with commentary from one or both on each — were WEEZER‘s “Islands In The Sun”, their father’s version of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”, THE BEATLES‘ “Lucy in The Sky With Diamonds”, “God Only Knows” by the BEACH BOYS, “Wake Me Up When September Ends” from GREEN DAY, and several STP songs, including “Dead And Bloated”, “Cinnamon”, “Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart” and “Kitchenware & Candybars”.

About one song on the list, Kelly Clarkson‘s “Since You’ve Been Gone”, Lucy wrote: “Every dad with a little girl when this song came out was probably familiar with it. He even took us to her concert and danced with me on his shoulders while I rocked out with my little fists in the air.”

Scott Weiland died in December 2015 from an overdose of drugs and alcohol while touring with his solo act THE WILDABOUTS.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS recently reissued their 1992 debut album, “Core”, in a deluxe twenty-fifth-anniversary edition.
