RUSH – Neil Peart One-Of-A-Kind Snare Drum Signed By All Three Members Up For Auction

In celebration of iconic, Canadian rock band Rush’s R40 Anniversary Tour, legendary Rush drummer Neil Peart teamed up with DW Drum designer John Good to create a one-of-a kind R40 drum set. Bid on the item at Ebay.

Neil’s R40 drumset by DW was crafted from 1,500-year-old Romanian River Oak salvaged from the bottom of the Olt River. Inlaid with a plethora of intricate, multi-color, laser-cut exotic woods and finished with gold hardware – the finished product is an incredibly rare and spectacular drum set befitting one of rock n’ roll’s most enduring bands.

To further commemorate the R40 tour and Rush’s 40th Anniversary, a limited number of replica R40 Icon Snare Drums were produced and sold by DW. A portion of proceeds from the sale of each drum was donated to Neil’s charity of choice, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

Identical to the snare drum on Peart’s R40 kit, only 250 of masterpiece, R40 Icon Snare Drums from DW were ever made. Each snare features a 6.5×14″, 13-ply VLT 1,500-year-old Romanian River Oak shell with exotic wood inlays sealed in clear, high-gloss lacquer and complemented by gold-plated hardware. A signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and deluxe carrying bag accompanies the drum. In addition, the drumhead is hand-signed by Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart.

100% of the proceeds from this auction benefit Neil Peart’s charity of choice, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

This drum was displayed to the public on the Canadian leg of Rush’s #R40 tour.

Rush have released a video trailer for the Best Buy Exclusive edition of their R40 Live CD/DVD/Blu-ray, which went in stores on November 20th. Watch below:

All roads have led to this. Forty-one years in the making, the R40 Live tour took a very real journey back through time. Beginning with the grand design: a state-of-the-art stage set that pivots, rolls and dives, and brings Clockwork Angels in to bombastic, colorful life before marching stridently back in time (through theatre stages, a panoply of band and fan shots, the accrued memories of a life spent playing live) to a mocked-up school gym and the band playing there; a solitary bass amp set on the chair behind Geddy Lee, a mirror ball spiraling crazily above, casting thin rods of light like a light rain across the crowd, “Working Man” coming to a shuddering halt as the band’s beginning becomes their end.

Rush recorded and filmed R40 Live over two sold-out shows in the band’s hometown of Toronto at the Air Canada Centre on June 17th & 19th, 2015 in the middle of their R40 Live 35-date North American tour.

R40 Live had the trio of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart, performing a career-spanning live retrospective, celebrating their 40+ years together. The epic live shows by the Rock Hall of Famers were captured with 14 cameras to present the band feature-film style.
