MY RUIN Vocalist TAIRRIE B. MURPHY – “Terrorism Will Never Scare Us Into Submission; Music Is Love, Life, Happiness And A Safe Place”

“My thoughts and condolences are with those in France and Eagles Of Death Metal whose merch man Nick Alexander‬ was brutally murdered, along with many fans of the band in last night’s violent attacks. For those who would like to donate towards Nick’s funeral expenses, a memorial page has been set up here.

I read today that some of our fans went to the concert and thankfully survived and are safe to share their stories, some of which were so hard to read. I can’t imagine going through something this horrible. My heart is heavy for all the victims and families who lost their lives and loved ones in this tragic nightmare. As many of you know, My Ruin’s drummer Matt LeChevalier is French and we have played Paris many times ourselves over the years. Being that this happened at a rock show with an LA band, not to mention the fact Mick Murphy and I have recently lost our brother Sam, this shit hits hard and close to home.

The world is filled with cowardly religious extremists who feel the need to kill innocent people in the name of their faith and fear based fanatical beliefs. Sadly, evil is alive and well, so we must acknowledge it rather than ignore it. That said, terrorism can never kill music or art and will never scare us into submission. Music is universal. It unites and empowers us. Music is freedom. It is love, life, happiness and a safe place. Music is truth and to many, music is OUR religion. It represents everything these terrorists are against. Where words leave off, music begins and today, we are ALL united in our grief. We are ALL in the band, and we are ALL Eagles Of Death Metal‬ fans.”
