More Video Footage Of Late MEGADETH Drummer NICK MENZA Talking About His 'Influx' Art Collection

On July 23, fans of drumming great Nick Menza will see and be able to own the art collection the drummer/artist was planning to release prior to his sudden passing. The Menza family, the musician’s management, and art publisher SceneFour will release the collection on what would have been the drummer’s 52nd birthday.

Just two days before his passing, Menza had announced that his art release, “Influx”, would debut in mid-June. However, the project was immediately postponed following his passing. The artwork featured in the collection is part of a new medium of abstract art crafted from rhythm, where drummers are building fine art through the use of drumsticks that light much like a painter uses brushes with oils. There are a total of three different works within Menza‘s collection. Each work is available in editions of 100.

Menza had joined an extraordinary group of drummers working with art team SceneFour in the medium, including Bill Ward (BLACK SABBATH), Dave Lombardo (SLAYER), Rick Allen (DEF LEPPARD), Mickey Hart, Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) and Jose Pasillas. These rhythmic works have quickly become some of the most-sought-after releases in the U.S. art marketplace.

“The scope of Nick‘s talents resulted in extraordinary visuals. They are some of the most sophisticated produced in this medium to date,” SceneFour co-founder Cory Danziger states. He continues, “Nick was a kind, thoughtful, and remarkably talented person, and it was a privilege to work with him. Now, it’s comforting to know that this artwork will honor his legacy and help the family he leaves behind.”

Menza is best known for his legendary work with MEGADETH during what many associate as the band’s “classic” era. In recent years, he joined progressive rock/fusion group OHM:, which also features ex-MEGADETH guitarist Chris Poland. On May 21, Nick collapsed after suffering a heart attack during a concert with OHM: at The Baked Potato in Studio City, California and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The cause of Menza‘s death was listed as hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner said.
