GREAT WHITE‘s latest addition, singer Mitch Malloy, says that the chemistry between him and his new bandmates is undeniable. “It really, really is working,” he told IndiePower.com at this past January’s NAMM show in Anaheim, California. “I mean, never in my life would I have looked at GREAT WHITE and thought, ‘That’s my band.’ Never in my wildest dreams. They called and I was, like, ‘Maybe.’ And then it just works, It really clicks. Great guys. Great music.”

Malloy, whose biggest claim to fame is that he was asked to join VAN HALEN more than two decades ago, also confirmed that GREAT WHITE is planning to release a DVD of its August 2018 performance at the Kentucky State Fair along with a few new songs featuring him on vocals.

“We’re just starting writing,” he said. “I’ve been producing the live concert DVD. So it’s mixed, video edited, in the can. And now we’re writing new songs. We’re planning on recording three new songs for the package. It’s gonna be a live DVD, a live CD. So we haven’t hit the studio yet… And then will we put those three songs on the new record? Maybe. We haven’t decided yet.”

GREAT WHITE guitarist Mark Kendall recently told Full In Bloom that he and rhythm guitarist and keyboardist Michael Lardie were “blown away” by Malloy‘s contribution to a new song they are writing. “We’re kind of taking our time, just trying to come up with the best stuff we can,” he said. “But we definitely wanna try to get something this year with Mitch on it.”

Last July, GREAT WHITE announced that it was parting ways with vocalist Terry Ilous and was replacing him with Malloy.

Ilous, formerly of ’80s L.A. hard rockers XYZ, joined GREAT WHITE in 2010 after stepping in for touring vocalist Jani Lane (WARRANT).

The Ilous-led GREAT WHITE released two albums, 2012’s “Elation” and 2017’s “Full Circle”, before Terry was shown the door.

This version of GREAT WHITE is not to be confused with JACK RUSSELL’S GREAT WHITE, which features original GREAT WHITE singer Jack Russell alongside Robby Lochner (FIGHT) on guitar, Dan McNay on bass, Tony Montana on guitar and Dicki Fliszar on drums.
