METALLICA To Perform On The Howard Stern Show On Monday; Town Hall Q&A With Fans Scheduled; Mandatory Metallica Channel To Launch In November

Metallica is invading the SiriusXM studios with an appearance on Howard Stern, a Town Hall Q&A with fans, and a limited-run channel.

On September 26th, Metallica will perform live on The Howard Stern Show, which will air exclusively on SiriusXM Howard 100 (Ch. 100) and feature a career-spanning set including fan favorites and songs from their upcoming tenth studio album, Hardwired….To Self-Destruct, due out on November 18th.

That day they will also record a special edition of SiriusXM’s Town Hall series, hosted by David Fricke, where they’ll answer questions from a select group of listeners in the SiriusXM studios in New York City. The special will air on SiriusXM Octane (Ch. 37) as well as the band’s limited-run SiriusXM channel Mandatory Metallica, launching Wednesday, November 16th.

Mandatory Metallica will feature hits, rarities and concert recordings from throughout the band’s iconic 35-year career. The channel originally aired on SiriusXM in 2009 and again in 2013 when the band performed a private concert for SiriusXM at the Apollo Theater in New York City.

Mandatory Metallica will air through Wednesday, November 23rd via satellite on channel 40 and through the SiriusXM app on smartphones and other connected devices, as well as online at siriusxm.com.

Metallica will perform as part of this year’s Global Citizen Festival in New York City on September 24th. And you’ll be able to catch the performance live online.

Says organizers: “While we wish everyone could come to the 2016 Global Citizen Festival, we want everyone to see the incredible impact Global Citizens have made to enact policy change from leaders around the world. Metallica have confirmed that they will perform on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, on Thursday, September 29th. The show airs at 11:35 PM, EST.

Metallica recently announced that their long-awaited new album – Hardwired…To Self-Destruct – which will be released on November 18th – is finally done! A message from the band can be found below.

Says Metallica: “Guess what?!? It’s DONE! We have put the finishing touches on our next album Hardwired…To Self-Destruct and are looking forward to the next phase of unleashing it to the world, waking the monster that is Metallica and hitting the road. As we were in the 11th hour of wrapping it up it dawned on us that we have never shared with you in any sort of cohesive “official” manner the extensive covers we have worked on since Death Magnetic. While digging into the bonus options to compliment the 12-song album with additional material, we realized that none of our versions of these songs from some of our favorite and most respected artists have been readily available on our very own Blackened Recordings. So with that said, we’re here to tell you about some changes we’ve made to the deluxe versions of Hardwired… in place of the previously announced Riff Origins.

“The 2016 version of ‘Lords of Summer’ from the studio in its full glory as originally promised is still included, but now we’ve added the ‘Ronnie Rising Medley’, originally only available only on the Ronnie James Dio – This Is Your Life tribute album, along with the Iron Maiden cover of ‘Remember Tomorrow’ rounded out by Deep Purple’s ‘When A Blind Man Cries’. And by the way all of these tracks have been recently remastered for optimum 2016 sound quality. Just for fun (and because there was room!) the special set we did at Rasputin’s in Berkeley, CA on Record Store Day 2016 to celebrate the reissues of Kill ‘Em All and Ride The Lightning is here all re-mixed and mastered.

“Lastly we had such an amazing time being a part of the first weekend of events ever held at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis last month. It was an honor and a thrill to test out “Hardwired” live there and we just had to commemorate the debut by including the recording from that night here.”
