FOREIGNER guitarist Mick Jones has told Billboard that a possibility exists that he will collaborate with the band’s original lead singer Lou Gramm on some new music in the near future. “Yeah, definitely,” he said. “We’ve been so busy, [to] tell [you] the truth. It’s pretty exhausting. It’s just finding that time when you can take a week somewhere, and even five or six days, just to get together and try and think back to where we were heading with the ideas. I listened to a couple of tracks last week and I definitely heard some ideas in there that are quite valid.”

In the same interview, Gramm confirmed that he will no longer be touring with his solo band. Saying that “the decision had been made a while ago,” Lou explained: “I’m just at the point now where I’d like to turn my attention to people I love and other things that I enjoy,” including fixing and driving his collection of muscle cars. “It’s been a passion of mine since before I was old enough to drive,” he said. “And in Rochester, there’s a very short time where you can drive cars where it’s not snowing and it also happens to be a time when we’re touring the most. So I want to put that time aside.”

The only remaining original member of FOREIGNER, Jones suffered from some health issues beginning in 2011, eventually resulting in heart surgery in 2012. Ever since, it is never announced whether he will be appearing with the band for specific shows — it just depends how he is feeling.

After Gramm left FOREIGNER in 2003, Jones took some time off before regrouping a couple years later with an entirely new lineup, featuring lead singer Kelly Hansen, former DOKKEN bassist Jeff Pilson, and multi-instrumentalist Tom Gimbel, among others.

Last year, Gramm participated in FOREIGNER‘s “Double Vision: Then And Now” concerts, which featured current and original members of the band, including Jones, drummer Dennis Elliott, keyboardist Al Greenwood, bassist Rick Wills and guitarist/saxophonist Ian McDonald.

Gramm was the voice on FOREIGNER‘s biggest hits, including “Feels Like The First Time” and “Cold as Ice” from the band’s eponymous debut in 1977, and later songs like “Hot Blooded” and “I Want to Know What Love Is”.
