Faith No More: ricompaiono dopo 17 anni

I Faith No More hanno rilasciato “Motherfucker“, il primo singolo tratto dal loro settimo album in prossima uscita, e la loro prima registrazione in studio a partire dal 1998, anno in cui lorsignori i pionieri dell´alternative–metal si sciolsero.

Come il bassista Bill Gould ha rivelato a Rolling Stone, questo brano è il primo assaggio di un album che sarà prodotto da Gould stesso, registrato a Oakland, nella sala prove della band e pubblicato da Reclamation Records.

Il tastierista Roddy Bottum dichiara, in un comunicato, “La prima traccia ad essere proposta, “Motherfucker”, e´ assolutamente la piu´ indicata, e´ una canzone che parla di responsabilità. In pratica, abbiamo creato, registrato e mixato un nuovo prodotto noi stessi, e sempre noi lo rilasceremo, attraverso la nostra etichetta. Dover rispondere solo a noi stessi, a questo punto della nostra carriera, e´ assolutamente una gran cosa, e la canzone parla di questo, cioe´ dove il dollaro non puo´ piu´ nulla e non ha piu´ alcun potere nella produzione di foie gras, nel creare schiavitù.. . sai, cose del genere. “

“Motherfucker” vedra´ la luce come singolo su Record Store Day Black Venerdì, 28 Novembre 2014. Il disco, in tiratura limitata a 5.000 copie, proporra´ anche un remix, per gentile concessione dell´icona del pop sperimentale industriale JG Thirlwell, di una sua traccia.

La band, impossibile da catalogare in epoca pre–grunge, continua a rimanere un nucleo di idee non dipanabili: “Motherfucker” va ben oltre il colpo sferrato nel 1989 da The Real Thing, i trionfanti cori del loro Album of the Year, canto del cigno datato 19 le dinamiche altalenanti della carriera solista del troppo avanti Mike Patton, avvicinandosi persino in punta di piedi agli impetosi confini della salute mentale.

Faith No More have unleashed “Motherfucker,” the first single from their upcoming seventh studio album, and their first studio recording since the pioneering alt-metal boundary-pushers originally disbanded in 1998.

As bassist Bill Gould told Rolling Stone, the track is the first taste of an album that will be produced by Gould himself, recorded in the band’s Oakland rehearsal space and released on their own imprint, Reclamation Records.

Keyboardist Roddy Bottum says, in a statement, “It feels apt that the first track we’re releasing is ‘Motherfucker,’ a song about accountability. Basically we’ve created, recorded and mixed a new body of work by ourselves and we’re releasing it on our own label. It’s a huge deal for us to only have ourselves to answer to at this point in our career and the song is about that, where the buck stops via the basic imagery of foie gras production, bondage. . .y’know, stuff like that.”

“Motherfucker” will be released as a seven-inch single on Record Store Day Black Friday, November 28. The record, limited to 5,000 copies, will feature a B-side remix of the track courtesy of industrial-tinged experimental-pop icon J.G. Thirlwell

A band that was impossible to pin down in the pre-grunge era remains a beautifully tangled mass of ideas: “Motherfucker” marches forth with the doom-laden raps of their 1989 breakthrough The Real Thing, the triumphant choruses of their 1997 swan-song Album of the Year, the moan-to-screech dynamics of Mike Patton’s avant-minded solo career and a merciless snare cadence tip-tapping at the edges of sanity.
